The winery was lit for the festivities, with impressive décor on stage and trees and wooded patch, to aid in enjoying some hospitality and local Cooper’s Hawk wine, for William Shakespeare’s timeless classic A Midsummer-Night’s Dream conveniently all under a midsummer’s night sky.

There was royalty — both human and Faerie — and love’s tumult and the delightful chaos it can bring. The townsfolk strived to keep their play from falling apart – the play that will be their gift on show for the attendees of the wedding.

As another unique experience from Ghost Light Players and Cooper Hawks Vineyard, it was an evening filled with enchanting magic and a carnivalesque atmosphere perfect for love, both old and newly found.

The Lovers were played by Miranda Di Pietro, Shayla Hudson, Jeremy Burke, Mysteria Bayliss-Hariss, as Hermia, Helena, Demetrius, and Lysander, respectively.

Kristen Lamoure-Dias had dual roles as Hippolyta, the Amazon Queen, and Titania, Queen of the Faeries, while Dean Valentino was likewise dual-cast as Theseus and Oberon. Jacqueline Tinus was the mischievous character of Robin Goodfellow, or Puck, and Jeffery Bastien was the infamously transformed Bottom, along with directing the production.

Ghost Light Players first dip into dramatic territory was Sam Shepard’s  Fool For Love, directed by Elinor Price. It is a modern American piece that examines the nature of love, addiction, and story telling as history. May and Eddie, more than just lovers, go through their own twisted pasts to discover what really brings them together, and the father figure that binds them both to a destructive path.

The play focuses on May and Eddie, former lovers who have met again in a motel in the desert. The play premiered in 1983 at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco, where Shepard was the playwright-in-residence.

“It tells the story of two people who just can’t live with out each other whether they like it or not. Between digging up the past and uncovering the truth, the show will lead to an explosive emotional ride,” says director, Elinor Price.
